Bud Powell - Time Waits (1957)

Bud Powell is one of the greatest jazz pianists of all time. This record is from later on, when he was in poor health in just about every possible respect, but this is still a formidable record. He's playing with a really tight rhythm section, which lets him stretch time like he's chewing bubblegum.

Sounds like: Thelonious Monk, bop piano trios

Thank you. I am a huge fan of Powells "Strictly Confidential". It was recorded in a Paris flat in 1964, with the only percussion being faint paintbrushes in the background. very different. I'm already grooving to this. Very nice site, I'll be back. (reddit sent me)
