Annie - Don't Stop (2009)

the wait is over. annie finally releases her second album after a lot of shit with labels and stuff. sweet electronic pop with enough indie cred to make pitchfork write about it. produced by xenomania, richard x, paul epworth and timo kaukolampi. collabs include a guy from franz ferdinand and one fag from datarock. im also posting an EP/special edition bonus disc (wiki says it's a bonus disc, i got it as an EP. whatever.) that includes previous singles i know why ur girlfriend hates me and anthonio + 3 non-album tracks. cheers popbros.

I grew a vagina after listening to this.

  8. dunno why it took so long for this to get released. not like it matters; i'm sure most of us have had it for months/a year now. at least there are new tracks on this version.

That is the outfit that M.I.A. was wearing during outsidelands....curious.

I'm torn on this. Some of the songs are undeniably quite good, such as the enjoyably gloomy "take you home", the playful "heaven and hell", and especially "This song reminds me of you"(the last one is just excellent in every regard).

The problem is that the album order isn't as strong as it could be. Heaven and hell is more of a middle song, not the closer. Better placement could make some of my least favorite songs like "loco" feel less obtrusive.

Definitely get the ep and mix and match the songs are you see fit. I wouldn't be surprised if in a few years or so this album get a demastered reissue like the flaming lips album, and we get the original cohesive order hinted at back in 2008 (does anyone have a rip of that, by the way?). I'm also curious to hear that cut song, "perfectly honest".
